Is it easy to meditate?

Yes it’s easy, providing you are willing to invest a little time in order to learn how to do it.  The concentration and meditation exercises we teach are not complicated, but it’s like anything; you have to practise them. We tell people that a little practice and often is much better than just one long session a week.  We are trying to build a lot of new skills and integrate them into our everyday lives, and we all know the best way to do that is gradually.

So, if you’re prepared to put in just a few minutes each day and give it a try for a couple of weeks you will get a good idea of what’s involved.  Once you’ve made the discovery that meditation is not a chore, and you have begun to see the benefits, it’s easier to schedule time for it.

“To follow the spiritual life, you should meditate at least once a day.  It is best to meditate early in the morning when the atmosphere is calm and peaceful.  Evening is another good time.  If you give importance to your meditation and are sincere, your power of meditation will automatically increase.  If you are regular and punctual in your meditation, you will notice your own progress.” – Sri Chinmoy
